All brands have a story to tell and unique audiences to engage. Storytelling requires a strong creative vision and a compelling voice to be memorable.
I am a collaborative art director with over a decade of experience leading a staff of 8 designers. This includes two years as a hands-on creative director in the fast paced features and entertainment department of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where I held a key design role in 3 global publication redesigns.
While art directing Country Woman Magazine, a national publication for Reader’s Digest, I developed and updated their brand, redesigning seasonal covers and interior departments through collaborative project planning and studio photo direction for food, decor, craft and travel features.
Having worked both as an independent art director and for several major media organizations, I believe in seeking out novel ways to solve problems through respectful partnerships, clear communication, and engaging the unique strengths of others; whether it is a staff member, teammate, or esteemed client.
Excellence can be achieved by facilitating environments that foster creativity. It includes setting realistic goals, building and sharing a larger vision, encouraging educated risk taking and giving consistent, genuine feedback.
Today, I partner with clients to create intelligent design solutions that accomplish objectives and command attention for a variety of audiences, from concepts through production with the latest version of Adobe CC.
Contributing to a greater good has also been important to me. I've worked to strengthen and uphold consistent branding while also designing fundraising development campaigns for large nonprofits such as Sojourner Family Peace Center. For several years, I also mentored a future generation of designers by teaching graphic design, illustration and professional ethics classes at Mount Mary University.
Passionate about life long learning, I enjoy exploring art, science and current environmental issues. In my spare time, you may find me sketching from nature, studying plants, or navigating Wisconsin woodlands with a rescue dog by my side.
