All brands have a story to tell and unique audiences to engage. Storytelling requires a strong creative vision and a compelling voice to be memorable.
I am a collaborative art director with over a decade of experience leading a staff of eight designers. This includes two years as a hands-on creative director in the fast paced features and entertainment department of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Art directing Country Woman Magazine, a national circulation enthusiast brand for Reader’s Digest allowed me to further refine advance project planning, as well as studio and remote photo direction skills for seasonal food, home decor, craft and travel features.
Having worked both as an independent art director and for several major media organizations, I believe in seeking out novel ways to solve problems through developing respectful partnerships, clear communication, and engaging the unique strengths of others; whether it is a staff member, teammate, or an esteemed client.
Excellence can be achieved by facilitating environments that foster creativity. It includes setting realistic goals, building and sharing a larger vision, encouraging educated risk taking and giving consistent, genuine feedback.
Today, I partner with clients to create intelligent design solutions that accomplish objectives and command attention for a variety of audiences, from concepts through production with the latest version of Adobe CC.
Contributing to a greater good has also been an important mission, from solidifying branding and designing fundraising campaign materials for large nonprofits such as Sojourner Family Peace Center, to mentoring a future generation of graphic designers by teaching design, illustration and professional ethics classes at Mount Mary University.
Passionate about life long learning, I enjoy exploring contemporary art and film, science, and the environment. In my spare time, you may find me sketching from nature, studying plants, or wandering through Wisconsin woodlands with a rescue dog by my side.
